The House of Amos provides assistance to people in need through emergency food pantry operations and services designed to assist individuals in gaining healthy families, meaningful employment and achieving self-sufficiency. Our vision is to have a substantial, positive impact on nourishment, education, and health of the needy through the following services:


In 2017, the House of Amos

  • Provided more than 61,750 lbs of food and hygiene items to 2,019 families made up of 6,024 individuals
  • Approximately 9,000 lbs of fresh produce was distributed at our monthly supplemental distribution  
  • Distributed 4,900 sack lunches to children on Saturdays. Lunches were provided by Memorial Drive United Methodist Church Soup Mobile
  • Enrolled 171 adults in ESL classes
  • Enrolled  13 adults in citizenship classes
  • Distributed Christmas gifts to 412 children, including 112 who received a new bicycle or tricycle, and helmet, through the generosity of Shell Technology Center Houston. Other donors of Christmas gifts include ICON, Alief ISD Elsik 9th grade center and generous individuals
  • The Care Van administered 358 shots to 245 children at a back to school event hosted by House of Amos
  • Individuals and groups, for a total of 148 people, provided more than 2,890 hours of volunteer service throughout the year
