The House of Amos was awarded the remainder of a $50,000 grant from Houston Endowment on Sept. 30, 2011. The initial $25,000 was awarded to House of Amos on Sept. 30, 2010, and the remaining $25,000 was awarded on Sept. 30, 2011. The grant funds will be used for expenses associated with the House of Amos Food Pantry. With the downturn in the economy and the increase in the number of families served, these funds will allow the House of Amos to continue to help people in the Alief area. The House of Amos serves approximately 25-30 families per day, and food costs can range from $3,000-$4,000 monthly. The House of Amos gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Houston Endowment. |
